delivering christmas cheer...

I've really been in the Christmas spirit, moreso than in the past, this year. I decided I wanted to make cookies and breads for people, but wasn't sure who I should deliver them to. Mostly everyone we know is in the church, and I really wanted to bless people who we don't necessarily worship with, or who have a church family. I'm all for reaching the 130 million unchurched (AMiA goal) and was praying about my desire. I didn't want to just make all these goodies and eat them all ourselves.
Well, if you don't keep up on Pawleys Island weather, it's quite mild this time of year. It's been in the upper 60s/low 70s the past couple of weeks and we've been outside a lot. Well, after prayer, it came to me. I decided to make enough cinnamon loafs and cookies for all of my LITERAL neighbors. There are 10 other houses on our road, and we made 10 plates of goodies, and yesterday Spencer and I walked our street and delivered a little Christmas cheer to our neighbors. It was a lot of fun. We've lived on our road for 3 years, and I still don't know all of our neighbors. People greeted us with smiles and thanks, I loved it!!!
These are obviously in opposite order!
I found a great recipe on line for the cinnamon bread and used whole buttermilk, which definately make the breads quite tasty! I'm going to use the rest of the buttermilk for Christmas pancakes on Christmas morning! Yummy!
After delivering the treats, I've decided to host a little Christmas drop in from 1-4pm on Christmas day. We have no family or friends in town, this year, and I don't want Christmas to be over after opening gifts. It's hard to keep the day going when you have no family in the house, so I really want the home to be full where we're celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior all day long. So, if you're in Pawleys on Christmas day, please stop by for some Christmas cheer! (1-4pm)

Finally, please read my friend, Erin's, blog. Her family has been through quite a lot with their 5-month-old daughter, Emma, who has had to go through a series of shunt surgeries. The power of the Holy Spirit was clearly upon Erin over the weekend, and to that I say To God Be the Glory!

Thank you, Sayward. I always appreciate when you ask others to put us in their prayers. This weekend has certainly been trying yet a blessing in the end. I have no question that the fall was God's way of getting the doctors to listen. I'm still having trouble with the actualy fall. I keep replaying it in my mind and it's terrifying. The Lord was with us when I fell. So much more could have happened but he only allowed enough to happent to draw attention to the real problem. He managed to get it all done in time for us still to celebrate Christmas with family. I love your Christmas outreach by the way and have often wished we could do the same. I hope your Christmas is blessed and you have a wonderful open house. BTW, I love that first picture of you and Spencer!
